That's the truth. And giving a Starbucks gift card might not be as appropriate as it was in the past.

It's just a bad idea to cloud their corporate identity by adding alcohol. Clientele will change and drive the "coffee house" crowd of book clubs, church small groups, teenagers, and others to other places and I can't imagine many beer drinkers choosing Starbucks over any already existing local bar. The wine may get the "fashionable yuppie" (are they still called that?!?) crowd for awhile.. until it's no longer hip to drink cheap wine at a huge chain store. You can't go back after it's already changed your image.. so they'll end up closing shop and making room for the local coffee-houses. I won't shed a tear.

Now they can add overpriced wine and beer to their overpriced coffee menu.

Starbuck should not sell beer or wine ,because they are everywhere and also closed to schools (about next to school parking lots)..not good for children at all....sometime i saw some children get together having icecream,smoothes....now starbuck selling beer maybe they shold have one too or have to sit the table closed to drunk aldults ???

If I were to meet someone at Starbucks at 6PM I certainly would not want coffee, BUT...

I feel for the employees who, in some cases, appear to be overworked. Now they have to check IDs and argue with teens with fake credentials who are barely younger than they are.

I don't see why it's a big deal. I can see in select area by me where it would be nice, like on El Paseo ( I Live in Palm Springs area). There are Starbucks in places not next to a school and in a highly sophisticated shopping areas where it would be a smart move for them. I Personally don't drink and it wouldn't even phase me if I walk into a starbucks and see it on the menu. A lot of Malls and Fairs sell alcoholic beverages you can't always be worried about the kids. They will find some way to drink if they really want to. Homeless people do anything for money!

"Homeless people do anything for money" So those millions of folks that have been put out of their homes because of corporate greed are now gonna do anything for money. This is called stereotyping. Not all homeless people fit into your deffinition. I might also mention that the largest single segment of homeless are veterans and these folks outta get more respect than you seem capable of. Granted a larger group of these folks have mental stability issues like Post Traumatic Stress they served their country and are paying the high price for you to write drivel here on the homeless.

Instead of beer and wine, how about soft drinks and a more varied selection of food so that non-coffee drinkers like me will have something to buy everytime my wife insists on stopping at ANOTHER Starbucks. The few times I went in with her, I couldn't find anything for me.

considering there is a starbucks coffee liqueur, i dont see the problem with them selling the alcohol. there will obviously be growing pains but i do agree it would make it more marketable for meetings between individuals after 5pm.

What about Irish Coffee? All the Puritan laws against selling liquor should be changed to let anyone with a liquor license sell liquor. I live where no alcoholic drinks are legal but they are available.

People need to use a little common sense; first, they aren't putting wine and beer in every
location certainly not next to schools wake up people. Second it is to
complement the expanded food selection. Third you do know that in SOME Burger
King locations they do sell beer and wine, and to the guy that can't get
anything for him at Starbucks why not try a vivanno blend orange mango banana or banana
chocolate, or frappuccino juice blends of tangerine or pomegranate or do what I
do and ask for soda water and raspberry with whipped cream. They also have a Frappuccino Blended cream

No they don’t serve Coke or Pepsi for that try your local gas station.

So will giving a 16 year old a Starbucks gift card now be considered "contributing to the delinquency of a minor"?
