After months of hitting the campaign trail, the Republican candidates hoping to win their party's nomination for the 2012 presidential election have been spending most of their time in planes, trains and automobiles. Home, sweet, home has been a dizzying series of hotel rooms.
But out there somewhere, each of these politicians actually does have a domestic domicile where there are no corn dogs to eat, no stranger's babies to hold and no stray swarms of supporters to glad-hand.
As the GOP primary season cranks into high gear, we're taking a look at the homes these candidates want to trade in for the big white one at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Newt Gingrich
The former House speaker was born in Pennsylvania, grew up in Georgia and served as a U.S. Congressman from the Peach State, but he now calls McLean, Va., home. After his resignation as speaker in 1998, Gingrich's aspirations to transform the nation, as outlined in his 1994 "Contract With America," were short-circuited. Now, however, the 68-year-old author is taking no prisoners as he tries to leap-frog over Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum for a shot at the GOP nomination.
Gingrich purchased his home (above) in McLean in 2000 for $995,000. The 5-bedroom, 5-bath home has 5,206 square feet of living space. The Colonial-style home was built in 1987. Only 10 miles from the White House, McLean is a critical suburban outpost for the Beltway political crowd.
Jon Huntsman

The two-term governor of Utah has spent time in Washington D.C. in diplomatic positions during George W. Bush's presidency and as an ambassador to China under President Barack Obama. Huntsman currently calls the nation's capital his home, residing in a Federal-style home since 2010.
The 5-bedroom, 4.5-bath brick house is in the heart of the politician-stacked Kalorama neighborhood. Built in 1911, the 5,119-square-foot home housed the seventh season cast of "Top Chef" prior to Huntsman and his family moving in.
Ron Paul
During his 20-year service in Congress, Rep. Ron Paul established himself as one of the country's leading libertarians. The prophet of self-rule and minimal government is making his third bid for the presidency.
At 76, Paul has been successful in rallying younger voters seeking a leader who promises to alter the political structure of the country. And true to the profile of a man who advocates people doing things for themselves — in politics or elsewhere — it's not surprising to find that Paul is trying to sell his house via the Internet without a real estate agent or broker.
The Lake Jackson, TX home is priced at $325,000 and has 4 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms and 5,500 square feet of living space.
Rick Perry
Gov. Rick Perry is the longest-serving top leader of Texas ever, but now he wants to break out of the Lone Star State, just like his former boss, George W. Bush, under whom Perry served as lieutenant governor.
Perry currently calls the Texas Governor's Mansion home, but during the mansion restoration in 2007, Perry and his wife rented a $9,900-a-month home in the state capital of Austin that "raised some eyebrows," according to the Associated Press. The secluded estate sits on 3.25 acres and includes high-end amenities like Sub-Zero appliances and gourmet kitchen with marble and granite countertops, outdoor kitchen and pecan hardwood floors.
Mitt Romney
The former Massachusetts governor is hoping that his 2008 failure to secure the GOP nomination will turn into a presidential election win in 2012. He's running as a non-politician, calling himself a businessman who can turn the wheels of the U.S. economy. As the wealthiest of the candidates with an estimated net worth between $190 million and $250 million, it's clear Romney knows how to spur his own economic recovery.
Out of the slew of GOP candidates, Romney also owns the most real estate, although he has downsized in the last few years. He currently owns a townhouse in Boston, as well as a beachfront home in La Jolla, Calif., which he bought in 2008 for $12 million. Romney applied for a permit to expand his beachfront La Jolla home in 2011 and will reportedly begin construction when his presidential campaign is finished.
Rick Santorum
Former two-term Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum lost his seat to Democrat Bob Casey in 2006, but he proved that his governmental connections were good for business in his years as a Philadelphia Inquirer writer, Fox News commentator and conservative think-tank leader.
In 2007, after much controversy about whether he and his large family actually resided in Pennsylvania during his Senate terms, Santorum bought a yellow Colonial-style home in Great Falls, Va., for $2 million in 2007. The 4-bedroom, 5-bath home sits on five acres and includes a cobbled drive and heated pool.

Living in houses like these, in neighborhoods like these, how can they possibly say that they are in touch with the average citizen? You know, the average citizen with a $100,000 house, a $20,000 car, and $120,000 in debt........
You really want the country to be run by somebody who cant even run his own life like your debt-ridden example?
And that is why the average citizen is poor. they don't know how to handle money.
So, everyone who is poor doesn't know how to handle money? Lets see..
You make minimum wage but you need a place to live and a car..... even if you do not own a 100,000 home (which is WELL below average where I live) you have to pay rent. People are poor because they have to struggle to LIVE. Not ALL the poor are just "bad with money"
I guess you won't be voting for Obama then...
http://www.zillow.com/blog/2008-09-17/barack-obamas-chicago-house/
What you are seeing is people that ended up successful. Would you feel better if they lived in shacks. You can't have it both ways. Nobody should be ashamed of their success. If our country goes down this road of bashing those that have financially done well, we were doomed.
BTW, Obama lived large before being elected as well. I am from Chicago. His neighborhood is a very insulated liberal haven. What should be noted is how poorly Chicago is doing and frankly the entire state.
Those sitting on Obama's job council committee are all in the 1 percent bracket. They are the movers and shakers in the world. They aren't like YOU and ME. I want to hear their voice, but I do not want their voices to be the only ones heard. So this committee needs a lot more input from those on mainstreet.
The point is that people are looking at the 1 percent to guide decisions for this country. Do you think we should be looking to the poor to help guide us? Of course not. However, we do need a better mix and the president needs to stop hiring those that are Ivy league lawyers that are in the 1 percent bracket.
It is all about the mix.
Equally I do think MOST people do a poor job handling money. They do not know how to create wealth even if it is staring them in the face. So they lack the skills to see opportunities. People that make great wealth see the opportunities all around the on a daily basis. They then have the money they created to act on those opportunities.
What I am saying is that most people do not have good enough math skills to help them create even a little bit of wealth. Many HATE to talk about money because they don't like to be reminded what they have and don't have. Listen, Oprah has said this many times. PAY YOURSELF FIRST EVERY TIME.
Oh sure, 'cuz BO entered the WH from such a humble Chicago abode (NOT!). BO's Chicago digs were valued quite near $1M and the deal he struck to acquire them was rife with controversy and possible scandal. Hoping you're not saying BO is more in touch with Average Joe than any of the Repubs 'cuz that argument holds no water.
@theboys - I'd feel better if they had more in common with regular folks, or anything at all. Only Paul has a house under a half a million dollars.
Absolutely, correctly, stated; the level of bigotry, ignorance, and/or intolerance herein is palpable. If one is poor, they obviously cannot take care of themselves, according to the class bigots; therefore, they need the wealthy, like Mitt Romney, et al, to take care of them, make decisions for them, and ensure that they stay exactly that way (for their own safety, I suppose...more bigotry).
Why did we never see Obama's house? You know, the one right near Bill Ayers' house. Nevermind, nothing to see here, just another example of the the "unbiased" media picking a side.
While we're talking about connecting with real people, why did you Libs and Progs elect a man who has never had a real job in his life? Turn your comments around. If he's never worked a 9-5 how can he ever identify with those of us who do?
Oh yeah, once again I forgot, the rules of logic and hypocrisy don't apply to Libs. Now collapse this and get back to your bashing of Republicans.
@ Skup...them am guessing it's even better McCain wasn't elected (God forbid)....and his 7 homes (that we know of)....
http://www.zillow.com/blog/2008-08-27/john-mccains-houses-number-6-no-8-maybe-11/
I can't think of any valid reason for them to run a article like this other than trying to paint the Republicans in a bad light. I'd be willing to bet that 90% of all the politicians in DC live in homes just like these. We already know the current administration does...

JimP1969 - Why is it that you conservatives can't READ with comprehension. This article is titled "the Homes of the GOP Contenders". Perhaps that's why Obama's house was not included.
When can you people learn to stay on topic?
Guess you don't know how to Google.........goes like this.....click on google, type in President Obama Chicago home.............good grief how did you get here?
PJ-547553 - I didn't say there was anything wrong with any of them owning nice houses. The article was clearly intended to try to paint the Republicans as being 1%ers when it is clear that all politicians are.
Thank you Skup for pointing out the hypocrisy of this story. ALL politicians have big houses, big money, and big industries in their pockets. Why doesn't MSNBC get it's politicians to introduce legislation to make it illegal to be rich. You better define rich too because most of you on here probably make much more than me and I want some of your money. It's unfair that you have more than me. What makes America what we are is that if you want it, work hard, go out and get it. That's not a conservative or liberal idea, it's common sense.
@Starderup and ItsAboutTime....Paul resides in a home that is 5,500+ sq ft of living space - 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. The pic posted is very small partial view of the house.
You'll pardon me but that just don't float as 'the common man'. The cost means nothing - is decided by locale.
As for your comment that all politicians are in the 1% - I'll go you one further - I don't believe there is a single politician in Washington 'instep' with the common man - woman - family. Not a single one. Fool all. These debates...all BS.
It must be a very slow news day. You can always count on MSNBC to run a smear story when there's no real news out there. Seriously MSNBC, are these homes any different than those of their Democrat counterparts?
@JimP1969 - don't be silly - there were LOADS of pictures of Obama's house prior to the last election. Lots of stories and lots of pics.
Remember - we live in America where everyone is open to the scrutiny of every single person on the planet.
As for real jobs?? Bush? Oh you mean those his father provided.
Just goes to show you have to be wealthy to be successful in politics. I don't fault any of these people for what they have earned (if they earned it) in life, I would however like to see someone in a modest home coming from middle class representing us.
PJ - 547553: Honestly, it doesn't really matter to me what kind of home any of the GOP Contenders own. I don't think a single one of them are qualified to be President of the United States. I am a moderate democrat, and I will vote for Obama in 2012, no question... but I am quite fed up with way our government has been over several years. I often say they need to vote everyone out, replace it with everyday avg Americans, and see how much more can be accomplished. Cut out lobbyist money, give members of Congress an avg US Citizen's Salary, no more free health care... and heck, no more freebies period.
ROFLLLL.....have you people seen Obama's home for sale on Martha's Ninyard...a cool 23 million is the asking price??? What about Clinton's mansion?? What a bunch of hypocrites!!!
Silliest article yet. Designed specifically to get the smallest of the mental midgets hot and bothered.
Seems to have succeeded.
To be fair, I'm sure most wealthy Democrat Congress members' houses are comparable to these. Luxury homes have nothing to do with politics. It's all about the bank balance.
JimP1969---Any reasonable human being doesn't pick sides because there are no sides. A politician is a politician and if you believe that one party is truly better than the other, you are either very young or have been living under a rock the last two decades. The only people they represent are the people that can help them the most.
Why are we making the assumption that none of these candidates are in debt? We are assuming that all of this stuff is bought and paid for. These are the folks, Dem or Rep, that control how our tax dollars are spent and how many jobs can easily leave the country. Why it seems to be necessary to rent for 9900.00 a month on tax payer dollars is beyond me. Half that cost would have netted them a very comfortable living space with plenty of room to hob nob with the people sending all the decent jobs overseas. BTW, a career politician is not a success, it is a person that knows how to play the system similar to welfare fraud.
You have bad at the top, bad at the bottom and the middle has been paying for it for too long now.
Those of you ragging on the poor, way to assume they are poor because of their own ignorance. This is why there is a serious problem in this country and guess what, they are the survivors so if anything ever goes south in this country all you rainbow and sunshine suburbanites are going to need people like that to get by. For every successful person there are several little people that keep them there. The employees can still make the product without the owner, the owner would be hard pressed without their employees.
One glaring omission from every one of these homes, I didn't see an alternative energy source like solar or wind power in the views shown. I would imagine it takes a lot of resources to live in comfort in a house that big. No sense in leading by example.
Obama doesn't own property on Martha's Vineyard, he only rents a house when he's there.
Linda M-311663 - have you seen the 'BUSH" compound in Maine? I have. Have you seen the BUSH ranch in Texas? The home in Dallas? Get over it, democrat/republican alike probably have expensive homes. If anyone is silly enough to back a candidate over the kind of home they own... they shouldn't (my opinion) vote anyway.
hahah...what obvious intent this article has. Hey, lets do one on prominent Democrats now! Baaaaaaaaa....eat the grass sheeples!!! Baaaaaahhahaaaaahahahah
Here is the information on President Obama's Chicago mansion:
http://www.zillow.com/blog/2008-09-17/barack-obamas-chicago-house/
Itsabouttime, why don't you spend 2 minutes reading the Liberal posts in here that are attacking these Republicans for their nice homes. Oh, that's right it's OK for Liberals to do that. You are right the homes shouldn't matter, but why bring up Bush's home, but not Obama's? Do you recall that Obama's henchmen DID bring up McCain's home, but the press somehow forgot about Obama's luxurious home worth 1.9 million
These are Republicans. The green thing is for Democrats to deceive the sheeples with.
Obviously with campaign costs, a person who was not wealthy couldn't run! Of course politicians are rich - WHO ELSE COULD RUN?
Rick, thanks for that post...Here are some interesting facts out of his property transaction that I found interesting hehe
No of course the left is not trying to foster class warfare. /sarc/
Funny, I looked back and I could NOT find ANY story during the 2008 elections about the DNC candidates homes, nothing since either.
Maybe Zillow should do a FULL story on all of the homes that are owned by those on thel left and those on the right, maybe then we can do some comparing.
And quite frankly, I did not see any homes that were so over the top that I would be hard pressed to not see better on my drive to work every morning.
And of course you assume that the seated president lives in a modest tent in Hawaii as apparently he's so in touch
C'mon as was said in a previous post. All fed politicians elected in the last 30 years whether Dems, Reps, Libs, Greens or Independent live in homes like this. There is not a politician in this country that could even make a run at office without the kind of money it takes to buy homes like these.
The real problem is that they need to be part time with term limits and no retirement plan. That will remove the appeal that draws these types in. Yes, I am stereotyping because there is only a certain type of person that can be elected to office. The founding fathers never meant for politicians to be lawyers, nor were the laws supposed to be written in legalese.
Check out Ron Paul's house...325k. Walkin the walk isnt he haha. Too bad the establishments of both parties told me that he is a racist. I guess I cant vote for him
I believe that is the point the article is trying to get across... and you bought it hook line and sinker.
Most politician's homes look like this. 50% of the people in congress have a net worth over a million dollars. They didn't get where they are by being average... and that applies to both major political parties.
Yeah well here we go! Get ready for more liberal media propaganda like this lashing out at Republicans! Seven (SEVEN!!!) of the top ten richest people in Congress are DEMOCRATS!!!!!
Where are THERE homes, liberal media! They are the ones that actually write the LAWS in this nation! And you people have the gall to insinuate being "out of touch" by these GOP examples? You people are hypocrites to the end and disingenuous from start to finish.
And let's not forget how the Obamas travel around the globe on "vacations" in luxury and host LAVISH parties the media isn't even allowed to PHOTOGRAPH!
It'sabouttime 3704531 Your comments do not seem to make any sense. What executive experience did president Barack Obama have? How many companies did Barack Obama manage? What leadership experience did Barack Obama show prior to becoming president or as president? How could someone tired of the state of Washington vote for a man who has continued to run up the country's deficit and debt, has created new and burdensome entitlement programs (Universal healthcare), and shows an arrogance and disdain for people that do not agree with his worldview. So go ahead and vote for the guy and enjoy four more years of mounting government debt, more burdensome entitlement programs, and the continued looting of our children and grandchildren. As for me, I want that Chicago style hack and all of his henchmen out of office as soon as possible. Crushing debt, expanded entitlements, and a president who does whatever he wants equals GREECE. By the way, a president who appoints a nominee that the Senate does not confirm is called a dictator.
Who cares how big peoples houses are.
Did any of them allow a felon to screw poor people that they were supposed to be representing for a deal on a bigger yard?
SO WHAT?! huh? This article is so stupid. Pointless. Empty of substance.
Reverse journalism is what it's called.
Did we see such article written prior to the 2008 general election? No? Why? Because the far-left bizarro world of main stream media didn't WANT to show Obama extravagant lifestyle?
These properties reflect the AREA-CITY-STATE in which that are located. Nothing more. One states mansion is another states double-wide trailer. Real Estate values vary widely across the country.
You want poverty turned to success? Perry actually did grow up in abject poverty. Cudus.
ItsAboutTime-3704531 I am puzzled as to why a self professed moderate Democrat would vote for the ultra-liberal candidate when there are moderate Republicans on the ticket. It appears that a moderate would vote for a moderate unless you are more liberal than what you profess.
yes poor people cant manage thier money:like all human
the only reason why rich people dont complain about it is because they get bailouts, tax breaks, and the right to dump our job into the sea, until it swims to asia
ofc, they then whine about how obama shouldnt have
Im chinese, win or lose, i win
u guys can give the jobs to asian countries while you slack off. but of course, the conservatives want to be nero. why not wait until the whole country is burned down before you, then build a new one?
antimaerican+sugarconing=conservative
The jealously of the hateful far Left is popping it's ugly green head up in this article.
Jealously and envy thy name is Dumocrat.
"Normal" well adjusted people don't care what someone elses house looks like.
In order for any Politician to identify with us "average citizens", they would all need to be paid an average salary, get the average vacation time we each get a year. Pay into and live off of Social Security when they retire, and have Medicare as their health plan as well. Instead the first thing they all do each year... vote themselves all raises, newer better benefits (for life), more vacation days etc.. then they get might get to one or two bills that have so much crap included that doesn't even relate to the bill itself.....as comprimises to get votes to pass it. CAN YOU SAY CORRUPT!
Who cares, just get the American people back to work and the economy going, the do NOTHING CONGRESS!
Storm2850, my comment above was not meant for your posting, it was for the article about these corrupt politicians, but I do totally agree with you 100%, good post.
I want to see Pelosi's home(s) and the rest of the dems!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give me a break, what a BS atricle trying to make the GOP look bad, with no mention of the democrats. Is this what "news coverage / journalism" has come to? What a Shame......See how the left is trying to keep stirring the 'class war fare' thing.
How about showing us what ALL Congressmen and women live in?How about doing an article and showing what each earns per year from other sources? How about showing us something relivent, not whimsical for a change?
Jerry-1573453 - Said:Itsabouttime, why don't you spend 2 minutes reading the Liberal posts in here that are attacking these Republicans for their nice homes. 1. I did not attack any republican for having a nice home. Once again, people need to read with comprehension. The sum of my comments is "I don't care if a republican or a democrat has a nice house, it doesn't matter to me. If you are referencing my comment to "linda", let me educate you. She made a false claim that Obama owned a home in Martha's Vineyard, which is a lie. Bush owns a home in Dallas, a Ranch in Texas, and his daddy also owns the BIG Bush compound. Why would I say that, because it appears all of them have nice homes. GET IT?
Lastly, The title of this article is GOP Contenders and their homes. IT DID not reference anything about democrats and you know why? THERE IS ONLY one contender.
It just takes reading with comprehension.
jake 1 said: It'sabouttime 3704531 Your comments do not seem to make any sense. What executive experience did president Barack Obama have? How many companies did Barack Obama manage? What leadership experience did Barack Obama show prior to becoming president or as president?
I am sure you are capable of researching Obama's resume online yourself. I have, and I am quite aware of his qualities to be president. 1) He was not kicked out of Congress (Gingrich), 2) He is not throwing his religious conservative rhetoric down my throat (Perry, Gingrich, Santorum), 3) He does not want to take this country back to "the Articles of Confederation (Ron Paul), He is not for the rich of America (Perry, Gingrich, Santorum), and he is the most likely person in that will help me achieve equal rights.
How could someone tired of the state of Washington vote for a man
My comment on Washington is on the District of Columbia, generally referred to as Washington DC.
who has continued to run up the country's deficit and debt, has created new and burdensome entitlement programs (Universal healthcare), and shows an arrogance and disdain for people that do not agree with his worldview.
Don't even get me started on the deficit and debt that GEORGE BUSH ran up during his presidency. Don't even get me started on the two wars we fought with no new taxes. Don't even get me started on the entire Iraqi war that was fought on a lie.
As for your comment on Universal Health Care. In this country, the best way for quality of life is, food, clothing, shelter, transportation, and health care. Try and dispute that for me. There are many republicans on the hill that know we need health care reform, and have since Clinton was president. What have they done? What bills did they introduce? Bush introduced one, that PREVENTS negotiation with prescription drug providers. That's it. If a republican candidate would actually come out with a plan that addresses 40+ million people not having health care in this country, I would listen to them. Lastly, do you know that if a person does not have health care, we pay for it anyway???
So go ahead and vote for the guy and enjoy four more years of mounting government debt, more burdensome entitlement programs, and the continued looting of our children and grandchildren. As for me, I want that Chicago style hack and all of his henchmen out of office as soon as possible. Crushing debt, expanded entitlements, and a president who does whatever he wants equals GREECE. By the way, a president who appoints a nominee that the Senate does not confirm is called a dictator.
When a republican candidate actually steps forward that has a plan that assists the middle class, they may earn my vote. When a republican candidate steps forward that is against giving BIG OIL entitlements (yes, free money) while making record profits, they may earn my vote. When a republican candidate stops throwing their religion in my face and telling me how to live my life, they may earn my vote. When a republican candidate STOPS corporate welfare and entitlements, then we can also stop abuse of social programs as well.
I don't give a rat's ass about the money they have or the big home's....what i do care about is if they can lead this nation back to where it used to be "granted it will never be perfect" but we used to get raises and minimum wage always kept up but now everything is so inflated that it's impossible to keep up. They say to tighten our belts "come on guy's you have stretched us thin already". I could go on but I see no point in it because it will alway's be the samo. I say bring back Teddy Rossevelt. No college education just good old commen sense "oh" commen sense ain't commen anymore.
This is more liberal propaganda (ProPublica?) to besmirch the right. To be fair, they should show Pelosi, Reid, Kerry, Clinton, etc etc...all richer than the GOP's. In fact, go ahead and google the left hierarchy's homes and see the magnitude of wealth they have amassed? The Obama's vacations sticker prices have beaten all the previous president's. Bush spent most of his vacations at own home ranch.
There isn't a politician on EITHER side that has a clue. Once elected, all of their effort is directed at paying back the special interest groups that donated the big bucks for their campaigns. BTW,how about Ron Pauls house? That's right, according to the media, he's not a viable candidate.
Waves of Grain - Please post your source on Obama's vacation sticker prices beating all previous presidents.
According to one source: (CBS News)
So far, President Obama has taken 61 vacation days after 31 months in office. At this point in their presidencies, George W. Bush had spent 180 days at his ranch where his staff often joined him for meetings. And Ronald Reagan had taken 112 vacation days at his ranch
Obama's price tag for one vacation to Hawaii may have cost 4 million. However, it seems to me, that spending if Bush spent 180 days at his ranch, ummm... that was not free.
Lastly in all fairness ANY president that is on vacation is really not on vacation.
I am going to completely ignore your comments about the dems you mentioned being richer than the GOP. Since you fail to mention any GOP individuals for a comparison.
Other day there was a poll put up here on which of these clowns you would vote for in the GOP race. The winner was the one on the bottom of the list which was "I wouldnt vote for any of them" by a wide margin and thats probably because they do not care where they live. Republicans to the last man do not know what the common people in America want or need for that matter. It is like someone invented a time machine went back into the past and got the very people our founding fathers were running from when they came here.
7 of 10 Richest Members of Congress are Democrats
http://fellowshipofminds.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/7-of-10-richest-members-of-congress-are-democrats/
This is whose house I'd like to see....Pelosi's!!!
http://nation.foxnews.com/nancy-pelosi/2011/06/15/pelosis-wealth-skyrockets
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) saw her net worth rise 62 percent last year, cementing her status as one of the wealthiest members of Congress.
""Pelosi was worth at least $35.2 million in the 2010 calendar year, according to a financial disclosure report released Wednesday. She reported a minimum of $43.4 million in assets and about $8.2 in liabilities.
For 2009, Pelosi reported a minimum net worth of $21.7 million.""
Waves of Grain - First, Thank you for actually posting a link to back up your comment. So many others on here do not post any kind of research. Its sort of refreshing to say the least.
I also did some research: www.rollcall.com/50richest/the-50-richest-members-of-congress-112th.html
7 of the 10 richest members of congress are democrat. However, the top TWO are republican, with a combined net worth of 508 MILLION DOLLARS.
How interesting too that the top member: (see in bold) rose that FAST in 6 years.. Hmmm.
When McCaul first appeared on Roll Call's annual survey of the 50 Richest Members of Congress in 2005, he was a wealthy guy, reporting a minimum net worth of about $12 million.
His financial disclosure report now depicts a fortune worth almost 25 times that amount, making him the wealthiest Member of Congress, at least on paper.
McCaul ranked fifth among last year's class of richest lawmakers, with a minimum net worth of at least $73.75 million, but has since risen to more than $294 million.
Even more interesting is the top TWO are worth more than the next 6 democrats in the list....
Lastly, I also noticed how you completely dodged any research though on Obama's vacation cost.. Quite frankly, its very clear that ALL president's should not spend american tax dollars for expensive vacations regardless of their party affiliations.
Where oh where are the pictues of Mr. Obama's home in CHICAGO ?
Or, Senators Reid, Dodd, Frankie, and Pelosi ?
Or, how about Mr. Climategate Gore's home in Nashville ?
Nah, just keep hammering on contenders.
You know their is a difference in poor and broke. if your on minimum wage you should not drive a car you cant afford it that is just the fact the car is the second most expensive thing you can own and the poor there cars just get into worse shape. It is all a mater of how much you will down size. and poor choices you make(save for the very few that just have Murphy's law against them all the time).
This argument is so funny. The rich people blame the poor for being poor and the poor people blame the rich for being poor.
Fact is a majority by vast margins are poor and things will change. You can see it everyday and now many just resent people for having money even if it is earned honestly, which seems to be rare these days. Either the gap will become smaller with the difference in wealth by working together and admitting to the issues without the social rhetoric or you will see this trend grow until it spills onto the streets. Either way this cannot be stopped.
Enough of blaming the poor and enough blaming the rich. Both sides should agree there is an issue and if not then they are just out of touch from reality. This is a bi-partsian issue or an American issue if you will that we all must get behind or we are doomed. It's time to fix the system that is teetering to one side.
No need to go into details.
Itsabouttime: Presidents 'vacationing' at their own homes here in the states - which equates to simply going home - compared to taking just one $4 million vacation anywhere at taxpayer expense, is like comparing one apple to all the orange groves in Florida.
Itsabout time: Your response to - jake 1 who said: It'sabouttime 3704531 Your comments do not seem to make any sense...
Jake1 is correct.
These arguments are SOOOOO stupid. It's like reading a bunch of children writing back and forth. i.e..this article is slanted, I mean look at so and so's house! On no, no look at his house or her house. The Dems are bad, the repubs are bad. Its ridiculous! Fact is, they are out of touch will most of us. It doesn't matter the party. Why will you defend, to no end, the party or politician that you support but chastise your fellow citizen because they don't think like you when it comes to politics? You're fellow Americans are not your enemy...just look at the way we are arguing over POLITICIANS homes. Really???? This is why nothing gets done, there is no interest in discussing real issues and finding common ground.
i may not agree with his politics, but Mr Ron Paul's home looks more like an average home than the outsized "ego massage" abodes of the other GOP candidates.
Observation - Of the three that had stated square footages in the article, Ron Paul's (5500) was the largest. Of course I'd be surprised if one or more of the ones without stated square footages aren't larger, but my point is that I would be hard pressed to say that 5500 square feet is "average." Now, with regard to home cost, his would appear to easily be the least costly - of course I suspect that the cost of real estate in Lake Jackson, Colorado is different than say Great Falls, Virginia.
In today's political world, it isn't likely that a serious contender in the presidential race lives in an "average" home.
And that is the problem in a nutshell. There isn't ANYONE in politics that has any understanding of what it means to be "average" in this country. They believe the pomp and ceremony, special treatment and extremes of Washington DC ARE reality.
There are MANY "average" Americans that can do the job MUCH better than the people currently in office, whether it is in the White House, House of Representatives or the Senate, but they have no possibility of gaining entrance to those places because the Republicans and Democrats at the STATE level determine who gets on ballots, REGARDLESS of party affiliation or lack thereof.
The American people have allowed our political process to become a special interest beauty contest controlled by liars and thieves.
Did everyone miss the real point of Ron Paul's residence location....COLORADO, and he is representing TX????? How can that be? Or is he doing like Santorum, with an apartment somewhere in TX that he lists as his "residence" but never lives there? You have to live in a state for a minimum of 183 days to be called a resident of that state.
a-t p... the article didn't indicate that it is his PRIMARY residence did it?
Personally, I don't care which "party" any of them belong to. In truth, they're ALL members of the SAME party. The Party of Self Serving Corrupt Politicians, and they're Democrat and Republican alike.
That is not Ron Paul's home. That is one of his vacation homes. MSNBC being silly even pointed this out, Paul is a Republican Congressman from Texas and this is his Colorado Vacation home. His home in Texas is quite palatial.
"The Lake Jackson, Colo., home is priced at $325,000 and has 4 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms and 5,500 square feet of living space."
Wrong. That is his home in Lake Jackson, TEXAS. I live not five minutes from his house (Surfside, Texas). MSNBC didn't fact check properly. By the way, Lake Jackson, Colorado doesn't even exist. There is a Jackson Lake State Park there though.
This is Dr. Paul's Lake Jackson, TX home he's lived in it for 42 years.
secondshelters.com/2011/04/19/want-a-second-home-ron-paul-selling-his-lake-jackson-tx-home-fsbofb/
MSNBC as usual you don't fail to disappoint.
And heck from looking at the other houses in that area he's asking approx 200 thousand less for the same amount of space.
realtor.com/realestateandhomes-search/Lake-Jackson_TX?source=web
John 362791,
Paul's home is in Lake Jackson, Texas, not Colorado. He does not own a vacation home in Colorado. He has another home in Brazoria County, Texas, that is worth ~$350,000. Neither home is "palatial".
MSNBC is not exactly a reliable source of information.
MSNBC drop the ball on this one. A simple Google would have verfied the location. As for the size of the houses, a $300,000 home in TX is not the same as $300,000 home on either coast. A 5 bedroom house in California would be close to $800,000. Politics has always been the playground for the rich and well connected since the colonial days.
Per MSNBC's own link the asking price for Dr. Paul's house is $261,300 not $325,000
zillow.com/homedetails/101-Blossom-St-Lake-Jackson-TX-77566/26517717_zpid/
Click through on the photos and you'll get the Zillow information.
Zillow is only a price estimate, not a listing and thus never lists the asking price.
If his house was indeed in Colorado, I would have made an offer.
anti-trust proponent - Jennifer Granholm moved from California to Michigan to get elected governor, quit 8 years later, and moved back to California. Vis a vis.
This is also Ron's final term as rep from Texas, so it would be pretty normal for him to find another place to live anyway. He doesn't practice medicine in Houston anymore, and most of his family have moved to other states as well.
With the exception of Rick Perry they all own at least one house, most could even call it home. Once, I found myself feeling sorry for the little Obama children. The president owns a house in Chicago but he never goes there. He even owns the building lot next to his house and we the tax-payers of America still do not know how he paid for that.
McCain, during the last elections, did not know how many properties he and his wife owned. He seemed surprised to learn that it was eight.
These men spent their money to buy their home, with the questionable added Obama lot. Their money, their choice. I always look at the annual property tax, that can put a "hurt" on any family's way of life. It must be paid, like it or not. If you are old and have owned your home for a long time eventually you find that you have paid more in property taxes than you paid for the house originally. The money gets spent, in most cases with over 50% going towards the local public schools, even if your children are grown or attend a private school.
"Location, location, location...." Santorum and Gingrich both live south of Washington. If you flip it, the other side of the Potomac equates to Potomac or maybe Chevy Chase, Maryland. I would not want to have to pay their property taxes. Santorum pays $16,117 and rising,( you can divide that by 12 for yourself), and the Newt pays $11,656 and climbing. There is no way to factor Mitt's taxes as he bought his place for the land and so he could "hear the waves," as he has stated. He paid a mere $12 Million for the lot plus the cost of bulldozing the old 3009 sg.ft. house and dump fees. According to this article, Rick Perry is homeless. If he was not the Governor of Texas and able to live in the Mansion he might be living out of his car like too many Americans are today. He did rent a humble abode while the Governor's Mansion was being redone for a modest $9,900 a month. I guess that did not include utilities. It seems like Ron Paul has it more within reason. He is trying to sell his home in Lake Jackson, Texas for $325,000. I wonder what he will settle for because he will not get his asking price, nor do I think he expects to. His taxes are $5,706 a year and rising. Paul did have an active medical practice before his time in public office. I wonder if he sold that. Of the lot, where did Santorum get the money to buy his house, ( 2 Million Dollars) and the 5 acres that go with it? I know we over-pay those folks on the hill but not that much. Surely Gingrich owns other places beside the house in McLean, VA.
Romney's stated net worth of "between 190 Million and 250 Million reminds of what Nancy Pelosi said when she was asked about her net worth. She said, "somewhere between 15 Million and 50 Million." That, my fellow Americans is a 35 Million dollar difference. I think you would know if you had an extra 30 or 35 Million smackers lying around.
It must really pay to live after serving in congress. I read that former senator Phil Gramm is now vice chairman of the investment bank division of UBS. If you do not know about UBS you may be interested in reading a little....
buyronpaulshouse DOT COM
That's his actual listing page. The home was built in 1958 and Ron Paul has lived in it since 1969. This hardly compares to everyone else who has bought brand new multi-million dollar McMansions within the last few years.
Mr. Cool, the Lot adjacent to the Obama home was purchased by Tony Rezko and he then "sold" it to the Obama's in some type of trickster deal that was essentially a payoff for then Senator Obama's influence regarding HUD and section 8 housing... Mr Rezko was a "slum" lord who is now in prison for fraud and racketeering. Crimes he committed while he was doing all kinds of favors and raising campaign funds from SYRIA for Obama... This is the truth. How else is an obscure half term senator able to raise over 600 million dollars for his 2008 presidential campaign!!!!!!
Why doesn't the media ever ask these questions? That's my question!
Anyone who acts like MSN is not slanted to the left and is actually reporting fair and balanced news please answer this one challenge, where was MSN when Obama was running and why didn't they report on his enormous home or any of the other liberal candidates? I'm waiting??
Hey white....don't hold your breath.
All politicians are corrupt, in one way or another, everywhere, in poor countries or rich ones, but, my point is, like here in America, our politicians should keep the country rich in order to steal as they usually do, otherwise they wont have their "mine of gold"
So I should only vote for somebody that lives in a shoddy apartment or trailer house?
I'm not sure everyone starts at the top and goes up from there. Most 'average' people start from the beginning and either move up or down in direct relation to the work they do and their success or lack of it.
Well it's good to see we can count on them to help get money out of politics. These guys would never take any money from special interests.
I am fairly certain that Ron Paul would be the only candidate on either side to not be controlled by special interest groups.
Jennifer Granholm was the State Attorney General in Michigan before getting elected Gov. Check your facts, don't try to make up stories, you're not that good...
Trevor 1973- Ron Paul is controlled by the TP republicans. At 76 year old, he is to old to hold office. Remember what happen to Ronald Reagon at that age, his mind was shot, his wife told him what to do. We don't need to repeat it all over again. Plus he is just crazy!!!
yeah azzhole you're a flippin' genius with your bk job
These homes are no different then the ones Obama will be able to purchase with the sale of his books. Even still will MSN do a story on how Obama aquired his home in Chicago through Tony Resko, you know the same Tony who is headed to jail and with ties back to Blago who is also heading to jail. There is a story behind Obama and his home, lets see the story here soon.
UAW... you of course are only joking, correct? Why would MSNBC besmirch the image of the anointed one The Supreme Leader and Salvation of all Progressives Globally, President Barrack H. Obama? The man doesn't have any dirt on HIS hands or skeletons in HIS closet now does he?
XD, you and UAW are dweebs. My memory is not perfect, but Obama's living conditions was part of the campaign story when he was running. Now, some other people are running and their homes are part of the story. What do you want? All the information about everyone at the same time? Neither Fox News or MSNBC will do that - they can't
alanfoulks... I apologize, but I don't remember anything about Obama's residence when he was campaining. Then again, I don't remember when he STOPPED campaigning.
And must you resort to personal name calling attacks? Or is that the best you can come up with?
And God forbid you should google it and prove yourself wrong.
bikerchick...
I admit when I'm wrong.
And I DIDN'T remember anything about his "residence".... and to be candid I DON'T CARE about his or any other lying politicians homes.
So, please ride your bike into the sunset somewhere over the Gulf.
UAW makes me sick post # 4. There is a story and one you will probably never hear. This is the first time in the history of our country, these United States of America that any president has sealed his records; his past. This raises too many questions, and ones that we will never have answers to. What about his college records? How was he able to pay the tuition and have money to live on? I know first and second hand that both Occidental and Harvard are not free. The cost to live in Cambridge or Boston proper is not cheap. A pair of shoes runs a century note now. Why have we never heard from either of his two college room mates? I know, had I been one of them, I would have made a few million with a book and perhaps the movie rights. Yet, we don't even know their names. Why all the secrets?
It is great that some politicians have made money and became wealthy. That is part of the American dream. That proves they may be sucessfull at something (not exactly politics). What is wrong is to claim they are in touch with the general public when they really aren't.
RICK PERRY DOES NOT OWN A HOME!!!!!! READ IT!!!!
According to this Rick Perry does not even own a home. He lives in the Gov.mansion because he's the longest Gov. Texas has ever had. I know people who live in Texas they just aren't feeling the the economy crunch like most of us are. There has got to be a good reason why Texas as big as it is keeps Perry as their Gov.. That's why I support Rick Perry for 2012!!!! If he can run a state as big as Texas and keeps getting elected as Gov. he has got to be doing something right.
Betty - Apparently you do NOT live in Texas. If you did, you might vote otherwise. One fact to consider for Perry. Did you know, he supports in state tuition for illegal immigrants? However, an American citizen like me that moved to Texas, has to wait a year for that right. Hmmm.... and Im a moderate democrat
Betty Perry does not "run Texas" we have a plural executive branch that runs Texas, it limits the Governor's power.
I implore you to rethink your Perry for Pres stance, thank you.
It would be more interesting to know the current value of these houses, along with the total mortgage/HEL/HELOC debt against them.
How is it their homes are on display for the world to see, and yet I do not recall such when Obama was running? What? Did he live in a cardboard box and hold hands with all his fellow citizens? The man is as out of touch with his people as any other President. The media is so one sided its down right shameful.
Shhhhh... lest you be called some kind of racist neo-con, or even a Republican.
Your memory isn't real good, is it? A lot of swiftboating stories came out trying to besmirch our President.
LL
LL
Like what, MasterQ? Please reference a couple of those stories. It's sort of hard to come up with "swiftboating" stories about somebody who essentially has no past prior to 2004 except for what he wrote about himself in a couple of books.
Swiftboating stories? For a man that never put on a uniform?
Or are you speaking of people claiming he's not a citizen?
Or are you speaking about his affiliations with Van Jones, The Rev. Wright, et al? Some of which continue to this day?
Please educate me on how he has been besmirched. He continues many of these associations to this day does he not?
I guess "Q" thinks Cary won....talk about being out of touch!! I guess when you're a liberal you can make it up as you go mixing backgrounds and accomplishment of which the "Bamster" has neither.
How many viewerrs can identify with this type of living ? and someone from this group wants to represent myself and my country ? Join United Republic and help put an end to big money politics and politicians , it the working mans version of OWS and it's doable if we join together.
So is the Popular Amendment Movement that has been working since the summer of 2010 to get two constitutional amendments passed that will drastically change the political scene. Go to www.faircampaignreform.us to download the petitions, sign and circulate them among family, friends, neighbors. Help start a local grassroots, county and state-wide movement to get enough signatures for your Secretary of State to call for the required Constitutional Convention to pass these amendments.
I agree NY NY, for MSN to be fair lets see all of thehouses for all of congress along with all of the Czars and Obama's house in Chicago. Hey MSN, lets be transparent or is it business as usual for you!
Aww! The Repub cry babies are out of their pen again. Cry all you want about the "liberal left-wing media."
Sniffle, sniffle.
LL
And I'm sure you think Obama is just as "down in the dumps" as the middle class, right?
So where are the pictures of Obama's properties? Also, the current rumor is that they are looking into purchasing Katharine Hepburn's estate in Old Saybrook, CT for $28 million. Why don't we throw up some pictures of that as well? This article is nothing but pathetic spin. Let's continue to demonize successful people! That'll get the economy back on track!
Yep. Genuine "men of the people," every one. And last election's Democratic contenders were no better. No wonder they're so out of touch.
bluefrog - who do you WANT to run the country? Someone who WASN'T financially successful? Yeah, there's a good idea.
Cheap shot by the MSNBC political hacks......Typical media bias to the left. How come no one in the media is complaining about King Obama and his Queen exploit the American people by using the public owned equipment for their own personal use at our expense...I.E. AF1 to make their junkets for vacation...golf get- aways...dinners in NY....etc.
MSNBC is not a new source...it is an arm of the Obama re-election campaign....
But George Stephanopoulos said there is no media bias?
lolll
Have you seen where George lives? If we are going to hate rich people then all rich including Soros should get hated the same. If you say he gives to causes, then you need to go your homework on all the rich to decipher where they give their money.
Rich bashing is becoming disgusting. We should be ashamed. I was never raised to be jealous of others.
why is it u don't talk about all the trips other presidents made. all racist u are. why don't u write what u really thaink about this president instead of writing what u think is the truth.
jt - I'll be happy to tell you what I really think about this president. It's a matter of national shame that he was ever elected in the first place. There was nothing, absolutely nothing, on his resume that justified him even being considered as a serious potential presidential candidate, let alone actually elected. He's never created a single job, he was a junior senator and he had absolutely no relevant experience. Everyone who voted for him threw this country under the bus, IMO. He spent many formative years in a muslim country, going to muslim schools and being raised to hate everything the U.S. stands for. He has made an unforgivable number of trips around the world, "apologizing" for the U.S. and kissing the feet of other world leaders. There is not a doubt in my mind that he is purposely trying to destroy the country so that it can be rebuilt according to his socialist agenda. He has surrounded himself with "czars", many of whom are avowed socialists and communists. He has no loyalty to this country, he cares about illegals more than he does about American citizens and he wouldn't know the truth if it came up and bitch-slapped him.
I loathe him with every fiber of my being and I pray that he is thrown out of office this year - because if he is allowed another four years in office, he will finish the job he started, which is to destroy the country as we know it.
That's why it's called YOUR opinion.
President Obama's life is an open book - all you have to do is your own unbiased research.
But that would be too easy , IMHO. You're just a lazy person with an axe to grind.
KMC...did you bump your Fn' head somewhere?....Were are the health records???? Were are the transcripts from the schools he attended????? Axe to grind my azz....we just want the truth about the MORON in our WhiteHouse!
Google the Nairobi Kenya newspaper headline that shows Obama winning the election and the half-page image of his Kenyan birth certificate....
Pathetic MSNBC, this has nothing to do with politics.....I'm sure the Democrats homes are just so average like everyone elses....get a clue.
Yes but the Democrats are not having a primary.
Funny how everyday there are numerous negative stories about each Republican candidate on this piece of crap website and not a single degrading mention of our ineffective, illegal immigrant hiding, soon to be ex president.
anything to take the heat of the Obama the Red
HERE IT IS AMERICA !!! The truly POWERFUL AND RICH !!! THE NEW COMMUNISTIC MONEY REGIME. The very ones that say all the BULL CRAP into making you believe that they are FOR YOU the American people.
HOG WASH !!!! Can you HONESTLY SAY THEY WILL CHANGE AMERICA ?? I SAY HELL NO !
THEY are going to change things to BENEFIT THEM AND ONLY THEM. THEY WANT TO CONTROL THEIR DESTINY !!!! NOT THE AMERICAN PEOPLES DESTINY. The VACUUM is at HIGH MONEY SUCTION and they will fight tooth and nail to save their ELITIST ASSES !!!
WE THE AMERICANS HAVE BEEN PAWNED AND SOLD OUT. PERIOD !!!
IF WE CONTINUE TO BE BRAINWASHED WE WILL EVENTUALLY LOSE EVERYTHING.
Dude Alain, nobody is getting sold out if they believe that they control their own destiny. If you rely on "other people", big government programs and spout a general victimization mentality, its going to be a rough road. Look at europe, it can't pay its bills because those governments were inefficient and promised too much. Now they can't compete and people can't create more jobs because regulations and big government programs have stifled their economies and made them uncompetative. It all starts with the mentality though. Americans used to be different, I fear we are all turning into a bunch of whiners.
AND TO ALL YOU GOP AND DEMOCRATIC FOLLOWERS of this sick POWER OF GREED. THAT INCLUDES AMERICAN IMBECILE VOTERS OF THIS HUCKSTER CROWD.
SCREW YOU or better YET ! F--K YOU for ruining this COUNTRY and still continuing TO RUIN the american dream and lively hood.
I will not vote unless other parties are in the race. That truly represent the PEOPLE !!!!!
Alain - I do understand your anger at the very small pool from which to choose from - but you go on not voting - in protest - like so many of the young people I talk to, trying to encourage them to take part in the process - I do hope you realize that by so doing so, you give more power to those that do vote - so go on, continue to not vote - thank you.
Ok..if you insist.
If Alain's comments are not an honor code violation, then what the hell is an honor code violation --- something that offends liberals?
Like Democrats live in mud huts? Ted Kennedy, John Edwards, John Kerry... really, stop.
lol
MSDNC baby
Pelosi likely lives in poverty. That's why she needs the insider trader subsidy.
lol
yes... those Dem congressmen all live in the Ghetto.
In the eyes of the media the Obama family is just a poor black family living in government housing.
And really old public housing at that!
ALL politicians live this way!!
They are ALL wealthy and do not represent anyone but themselves and their self interests, they don't want to represent the people of the nation who live on less then 50,000 a year.
let's list a few of Kennedy's houses shall we?
Don't forget Pelosi's and Reid's abodes.
This is just too funny. What's next? Pictures of the cars they own?
Absolutely irresponsible reporting by MSNBC (not surprising). Ron Paul's home is in Lake Jackson, TEXAS, not Lake Jackson, Colorado (WHICH DOESN'T EVEN EXIST). Lake Jackson is in the heart of his district (where I reside). $325,000 wouldn't get you 2,000 sq. ft. in Colorado.
Follow the link. It's LAKE JACKSON, TEXAS, not Colorado.
This is what MSNBC and the other left wing news organizations do: Report only negative things about the republicans and only positive things about the democrats. Always has....always will.
I don't see that it's a NEGATIVE thing that these people are successful. I don't want a president or any representative that hasn't gotten their own crap together enough to have a nice home.
Really, Laura? You think msnbc's motive in carrying this article was to show Americans that republican presidential candidates "have gotten their own crap together"?
If you really believe that, I have some beachfront property in Arizona to sell to you - cheap.
No, I don't think that was MSNBC's motive, it's just how I feel. Do you want a president who's been living off of food stamps?
Sometimes I think that if we did have a president that had been on food stamps that he or she would have at one point in there life been in touch with reality. Not a bunch of Millionires that have a little clue on how hard it really gets.
www.zillow.com/blog/2008-09-17/barack-obamas-chicago-house this is the article on obama's shady home buying with the guy who got convicted in a scam
I thought I'd give MSNBC another try. Then I saw this article. Back when MSNBC was my homepage I never saw an article on the Kennedy's estates or the Clinton homes. Never saw a peek inside the Pelosi crib. And when Al Gore was on his "Carbon Footprint World Tour", you never pointed out the crass hypocrisy with his multiple estates and private jet jaunts.
But quite honestly, I'm not bothered by someone's success and bothered even less when successful people run for office. What bothers me tremendously is when people enter public life living simply but exit with extravagent fortunes. Only croniism and corruption can make that happen.
So, if you want to make your money in the private sector and bring your can-do attitude with you to office, then y'all come. But the public sector should not be the place for your get rich scheme! You come simple then leave simple. THEN I'll know you served others and not yourself.
Looks like I'm giving up on MSNBC for good. Still looking for honest, unbiased reporting. Still looking.
why u r writing about it now. this has been going on for years. did it take a black man for u to talk about it.
Bye bye "workforalliving". No one will miss you here! (PS - only 1 "L" in "living").
Damn good thing you don't SPELL for a living. But the Dems 'cribs' have been available for anyone wanting to know. I think the point was that at a time when most Americans are having a tough time the haunts of the dancing bears trying for the top job are an indicator of how they relate to the average American. THe 1%ers are different. That's why they're the 1%. And if you had internet when Kennedy was President you should DAMN sure not be 'workingforalliving'. I'm thinking your money management skills are lacking.
Hay geno65--you have to have money to make money!!! The poor working middle class don't have enough money except to pay bills, put food on the table, pay the doctor, utilities, taxes if they own their home if lucky. Most are working paycheck to paycheck that doesn't leave anything extra. Most work at minimum wage jobs, you know the good job that out there now a days.
Steve, try getting an education and just maybe you could pull yourself out of the weeds.
This entire story is just to make all you libtards angry.. It did succeed..
More bias media...
Did you ever see the new Mansion of Al Gores, sitting on the Beach of Malibu...No Green there
I don't see this story as being biased in any-way. Some of these home are very modest.
I am a liberal democrat, and I think Ron Paul's house looks a little old school and cheap if you ask me.
But it may come as a surprise to the crowd here, but I have a house that's worth over 2 million. Yes that's right, a liberal Democrat who makes money, how shocking right. I also believe I should be taxed fairly. What I mean by that is, I think I have too many opportunities to hide my income and shed my tax obligation, these loop holes should be removed because, as I see it, I am not being taxed an equal amount as those who make far less than me.
Steve is right. You need money to make money. We make 10% on investments annually. So we have right now 2.8m in investments. That means I get 280k per year doing nothing. Doesn't seem fair when you look at it that way right?
