Michael Moore offers CNBC his take on Occupy Wall Street

The liberal firebrand explains what the movement means to him, asks why he can't speak to the network from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, and says the protests aren't happening in D.C. since political leaders are "employees" of the major financial players.

Thank you Micheal for telling and showing the country a side of the story that needs telling. Rightous stuff. Someday, somehow......we will save the american dream for the little guys before they completely take it away from us.

Righteous? You bet. This is from a guy with a net worth of $50 million. Have you ever heard the term "the pot calling the kettle black"?

Evil Business Owner: Nice attempt to deflect what Moore was trying to bring to light. FAIL.

Micheal Moore asked for:

  1. Return of Glass Steagall to ensure banks don't gamble
  2. Introduction of real regulations to manage CDOs
  3. Honest appraisal by ratings agencies

Logical to me. And you're against this?

Hanging around and whining about the situation isn't going to change anything. Michael is worth $50 million because he lives in this country and takes full advantage of its capitalistic system. If we went to all of this socialist sharing crap, he wouldn't be so happy when they took all of it away from him to give to someone who thinks they deserve it just because they're breathing. He's always free to be the first to put that idea into motion, but all you'll see from him and his ilk are wanting everyone else to take care of it for them. What a hypocrite.

Sorry, I have trouble taking him seriously. After all, he is the Crown Prince of Half Truths and the Grand Duke of Lies by Omission.

While I will agree that some of the things he says need to be done, having Michael Moore as the Pitch Man for these changes is like having Ronald McDonald and the BurgerKing King becoming the Pitch Men for Weight Watchers.

I don't see anyone from Lehman's or BoA on TV supporting the 99 percent. So what if he's worth what he's worth. He's willing to pay more and knows the system is unjust. What don't you get about that? You people are so afraid of what's coming - and well you should be. And Chris, if you want half-truths, then you're on the wrong site. Fox is elsewhere.

Most American may not know that Communism is the way to achieve Socialism. But Fortunately most Americans haven't had McCarthy for a pin up boy. Capitalism can and is often every bit as rigged, evil and unfair as Communism. Your devotion should be to the constitution and not to the scheme we run our country's social economic system with. By the way, you probably don't know that Socialism has been around for much longer than Capitalism.

Yes, Miker-3099934, you hit the nail on the head. You only get representation in the US government if you can pay for it. That is one of the main things that OWS is about. Where is that in the Constitution all you right-wing constitutional experts? Does it lay out fees? $100 for a new law? $1,000 for an amendment? I didn't see that when I read the Constitution.

Surprised so many would resort to "fat" and "ugly" in their posts. Personal hygiene and dieting? Whatever else you mention is totally lost, except I suppose to those who think that's somehow important in a discussion. The fact that Michael Moore is wealthy and still thinks what is broken should be fixed is in his favor. I'm also not sure why it is that people think the OWS want to take wealth away from the wealthy. I see it more as just not wanting to be, stay or become poor. We're still headed in the same wrong direction. Wall Street and the banks haven't learned a thing. And as for wanting something from the government and not wanting to pay for it, don't kid yourself, everyone wants something from the government; the rich and poor just want different things.

By not earning their way? I paid my dues and took advantage of the two greatest things that country offers, opportunity and the freedom to go after it! The OWS want the wealth given to them; except the old hippies from the 60's they're just happy to be protesting again. lol

I wasn't pointing out the media's view on Michael Moore's weight or looks; I was pointing out how the posters here made note of his weight and looks.

I disagree about people not wanting to earn their way. For the most part, people do want to earn their way.

I'm glad you agree that this country offers opportunity and the freedom to go after it. I often hear that the government does nothing but stop people from going after it.

It's easy to knock OWS because they don't all "look good" but they are Americans, free to express themselves.

Oh and Mike's gripe with capitalism is that when the system is based on people behaving solely in their own self-interest and the result is supposed to be that we are all magically better off one needs to look at the actual results because we've certainly given capitalism one heck of a try. The result is that shockingly, when people act only in their own self-interest, only they benefit and frequently other humans are hurt in the process.

New system please, let's start with real Democracy and see where we go from there.

I guess if you dress like a slob, people will overlook that you're filthy rich and making a fortune on the backs of the "little people" he is supposedly trying to help. How many of these people are just dressing the part? They look poor but they carry iPhones and Mac laptops. They come from rich families and have access to more money and opportunity than any average 'shnook' out there. They bitch about capitalism while drinking $5.00 lattes at Starbucks. They want a guy making 100k a year and netting 60k after taxes to pay his "fair share" while they pay nothing into the system that is supposed to "help" everyone. If this wasn't so serious and scary, it would be the funniest show on Broadway.

Keep Talking Michael we need you more than ever. The government is bought and paid for and the middle class is being screwed. All of you who oppose what he is saying and the OWS movement must love giving your money to these corporate thieves. Haven't you seen the escalating costs of EVERYTHING and peoples benefits being taken away as well as many of their rights. For Gods sake take off the blinders we are Americans First.

It was Republican policies that broke the economy and put so many people out of work. Now Republicans block every attempt to fix the economy.

They are willing to take down America just to take down President Obama.

That's the sad truth of American politics today.

It was Frank and Dodd who helped create the housing mess and Pelosi and Reid who put the government on a huge spending spree that was bankrupting the country. Nobody in their right mind thinks it is possible to spend your way to prosperity. Perhaps that is why that approach is the policy of liberals/progressives.

So, you are saying that "spending your way to prosperity", i.e. what the majority of economists believe is needed right now in order to not fall back into recession, are "nobody in their right mind", otherwise known as crazies?!

Most of them have a Phd in Economics...

I don't have a Phd. I earned a BS in FAA (and it still wasn't enough to start a career- thank god for all those years cooking in restaurants while making my way through college, as that's what I've had to fall back on to make some dough).

How about you, Pete? Got a Phd in Economics?

Corporate America's egos perceive themselves as powerful and better than everyone else. They will only dig in deeper and defend themselves when ridiculed. Because of their large egos, they will never find peace. They will only want more and more as the ego is never satisfied. On a deeper level, what compels them to greed is fear. It is this fear that falsely justifies the ego to act the way it does. They will never find peace, instead they will waste their lives serving the ego (which is never satisfied). If if brings you some comfort, know they are miserable on the inside and are not at peace despite what they may say. Only they can break the curse that blinds them.

Best part - It was a Michael Moore film that was the center of the Citizens United vs FEC suit. Citizen's United won the decision regarding Corporate Finance of Political campaigns. He won the argument about corporate first amendment rights and the concept of money and free speech. That may be why you never hear him say anything about opposing corporate personhood.

Americans should thank Michael Moore for his tireless efforts to improve the lives of the 99's. Mr Moore is not talking about Socialism, he is talking about FAIRNESS and an end to criminal banking behavior. Washington put an end to Glass-Steagall and removed fairness, and so began the theft of Billions and the drastic economic conditions we now have. If you want fairness in the future, get rid of all Republicans in the Congress. Otherwise, America is doomed in just a few years. Just look at what Bush/Cheney did, they borrowed $6 TRILLION and spent it on the Military Industrial Complex. The American people got zero.
